Ferrari team boss Maurizio Arrivabene says his team's engineers aren't all that impressed with Formula 1's 2021 concept car designs.
Formula 1 revealed a series of renderings yesterday depicting several concepts it hopes to introduce in 2021 when the sport undergoes a regulation overhaul.
While the images generally received a positive reaction in the F1 paddock, Arrivabene says the Scuderia's technical staff weren't exactly onboard with the various ideas.
"I was looking at the cars presented a couple of days ago by Ross. It's a good exercise," said Arrivabene, referring to an image leaked from an earlier presentation by Brawn.
"I was asking our engineers what they thought about it. They said it's a bit underwhelming in their opinion and it looks like an old ChampCar but it's an exercise."
Formula 1 is promoting the changes as part of its efforts to produce "better racing and looks to match".
McLaren's Fernando Alonso appeared to be more receptive to the designs, believing F1 is taking a leaf out of other series' books.
"They are positive changes," the Spaniard told El Mundo Sportivo in Singapore.
"They look like Formula Renault and Indycar. They are copying ideas that they know work and are better."
