The FIA has no issues with the innovative wheel and rim design fitted by Mercedes to its W09 after the concept was called into question by Ferrari.
The intrigue surrounded a series of holes in the Mercedes' rims that could have been considered as part of a movable aerodynamic device, and therefore in breach of the regulations.
The design followed a similar idea used by Red Bull back at the 2012 Canadian Grand Prix and which was ultimately deemed illegal.
However, Mercedes' design was put to the scrutiny of the FIA at Ferrari's, the Scuderia suspecting the W09's wheels, and its subsequent brake and suspension changes since Spa, may have played a significant part in the car's recent gains.
After a thorough analysis, the governing body has concluded that Mercedes' wheel concept is perfectly legal.
It's all fair game and par for the course between the two arch-rivals, with Mercedes questioning earlier this year Ferrari's advanced dual-battery system embedded in the hybrid unit of its SF71-H.
