The teams are out on track at the Yas Marina Circuit at the start of the final race weekend of the season, with the curtain set to come down on 2015 under floodlights on Sunday.
With the race taking place at dusk, FP1 - which is taking place during the early afternoon heat - is largely used as a test session by the teams due to the lack of relevance compared to qualifying and race conditions.
Lewis Hamilton is looking to cap off a fine championship season with the 44th victory of his career, but he will need to turnaround recent form which has seen Nico Rosberg win the last two races and secure pole position for the last five grands prix.
The biggest driver battle still to be decided is over fourth place, with Valtteri Bottas heading fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen by just one point heading in to the final race, while there is also a close fight between Nico Hulkenberg, Romain Grosjean and Max Verstappen over P10.
Grosjean is taking part in his final race weekend for Lotus before moving to Haas next season, and once again will sit out FP1 for Jolyon Palmer. However, Palmer has yet to run in the opening 20 minutes of the session as Lotus works to resolve reliability issues with his car.
