The teams have one final hour to tweak their set-ups ahead of qualifying this evening at the Yas Marina Circuit, but will be guessing somewhat due to the changing conditions. Only FP2 took place at the same time as qualifying and the race, meaning the current higher track temperatures will be very different come the start of qualifying.
The Mercedes drivers both took turns at the top of the timing screens on Friday, with Lewis Hamilton fastest in FP1 and Nico Rosberg setting the pace in the second session. It was FP2 which provided the most intrigue, with five drivers covered by 0.239s behind the two Mercedes' as a close battle for the final podium position emerged.
Sergio Perez was third quickest in the evening session but admits Force India needs to improve its race pace to challenge, though he remains optimistic it can do so in order to fight with Ferrari, Red Bull and Williams.
McLaren also showed encouraging pace with Fernando Alonso ninth fastest in FP2 but the Spaniard warned the Honda-powered team is likely to slip back during Saturday's running having been testing new concepts head of 2016.
