McLaren's Lando Norris incurred the wrath of the Styrian Grand Prix stewards for failing to comply with a yellow flag directive in Friday's FP1 session.
Norris was approaching the neutralized zone at Red Bull Ring's Turn 5 where Nicholas Latifi's Williams was parked.
The young Briton was informed of a yellow flag situation by his team and while Norris slowed, he nevertheless overtook the AlphaTauri of Pierre Gasly.
"The stewards heard from the driver of Car 4 and the team representative and have reviewed video evidence.
"On-board footage clearly shows that driver of Car 4 passed car Car 10 [Gasly] while yellow light panels were clearly visible and yellow flags were shown."
In addition to a three-place grid penalty, Norris was handed 2 penalty points, the first points added to his licence within a 12-month period.
