Red Bull new recruit Sergio Perez says he is joining a team that has the same "winning mentality" as he has, and the Mexican will give the 2021 season his "full focus".

Perez was facing a bright future in F1 when earned himself a seat with McLaren in 2013 after two formative years in F1 with Sauber. But things didn't pan out for the young Mexican at Woking, with a P5 finish in India his best result with the team.

Since, the Mexican has spent seven seasons in the sport's midfield, grinding away with Force India, collecting five podiums with Vijay Mallya's team, and then adding two more under the Silverstone outfit's Racing Point ownership, including a popular win in the penultimate round of this year's championship at Sakhir.

In recent years, Perez has often said that he regretted not having an opportunity to race with one of F1's top three front-running teams. The 30-year-old Mexican has now received his big break.

"I am incredibly grateful to Red Bull for giving me the opportunity to race for Red Bull Racing in 2021", he said.
"The chance to race for a championship contending team is something I have been hoping for since I joined Formula One and it will be a proud moment to step onto the grid in Red Bull colours alongside Max.

"You can be sure that I will give next season my full focus. The Team has the same winning mentality as me and I know I am here to perform and help the Team fight for another title."
