Formula 1's round of racing at Imola this year has officially been labeled the ‘Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix’.
After its successful return to the F1 calendar last November, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari has taken advantage of further COVID-19 disruption to claim a slot as the venue that will host the third round on this year's schedule.
And to celebrate the event's continuance, the governor of Emilia Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini, along with the Italian government’s ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation, were all too happy to award their race with the longest title in the history of Grand Prix racing.
The race will officially be known as the 'Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell’Emilia-Romagna', or the ‘Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix’.
It's the third name change for F1 and Imola which hosted its first Grand Prix in 1980 and survived on the calendar as the San Marino until 2006.
For last year's return, the race was called the Emilia-Romagna GP.
With all due respect for Imola's proud Italian organisers and F1, we'll likely ignore the convoluted and elaborate 2021 title and just refer to the event once again as the Emilia-Romagna GP.
