The 2021 F1 season was one of the most action-packed and thrilling campaigns ever enjoyed by the sport, but the fan community has picked its favourite race.

In a survey conducted by Formula 1, 52,000 fans were queried on the topic, with last September's Italian Grand Prix at Monza singled out as the season's best event by 19% of the poll's participants.

The race was marked first and foremost by Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren's return to the winner's circle, but also by the decisive and controversial lap 25 run-in at the first chicane between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Monza topped the survey as the fans community's favourite race by narrowly beating F1's dramatic season-ending finale in Abu Dhabi which received 16% of the votes.

In third place, Hamilton's remarkable drive in Brazil from tenth on the grid tallied 10% of the votes.

The fans elected the eventful Azerbaijan Grand Prix - where future world champion Max Verstappen was on course to snatch his third win of the season until a tyre failure blew up his chances of success - as their fourth favourite race of the year, with Red Bull's Sergio Perez triumphing in Baku.

Finally, Esteban Ocon's sensational win with Alpine in the Hungarian Grand Prix received 8% of the participant's vote to close out the top-five best races of 2021.
