Mercedes finally showed some of its pace on the opening day of the second test as Nico Rosberg set the fastest time on what he described as qualifying simulations on soft tyres. While the team is not expected to run the supersoft or ultrasoft this week, Mercedes will today effectively swap run plans with Lewis Hamilton getting his chance to try the W07 with low fuel.
With Hamilton and Rosberg sharing duties each day, Ferrari is going to alternate between Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, with the latter in the car on Wednesday. Raikkonen didn't enjoy the smoothest running on day one due to a stuck transmission, and Ferrari will be keen for more mileage with the SF16-H in the coming days.
Other teams needing to bounce back from difficulties at the start of the week are Haas and Manor, with the new team managing just 23 laps yesterday before being halted by a fuel system problem. Manor was hit by an oil leak which kept it to 45 laps.

Running will take place from 0900-1300 and 1400-1800 every day throughout the final test, which runs from March 1-4.
