’More to come’ from Williams - Massa

Felipe Massa says there is “more to come” from Williams following the end of pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Williams finished the final test in good form, with Massa enjoying two strong days and setting the third fastest time on the supersoft tyre.

Despite being 0.8s slower than pacesetter Sebastian Vettel on the same compound, Massa says the true pace of the FW38 has yet to be seen.

“There’s more to come for sure,” Massa said. “I did my soft and supersoft tyres today on the worst moment of the day, it was the worst track, it was windy massively so in the morning was better. But it was a good day to understand the car, to work, to change the set-up, change everything we can. I’m very happy with this week.”

And Massa believes the signs from the second test put Williams in a fight for best of the rest behind Mercedes and Ferrari.

“I think it was another good day, a positive day. We managed to do a lot of laps like we did yesterday, I would say this week was much better than last week, the reliability of the car was much better. I would say lap times were not so bad, they were competitive compared to the others.

“We know Mercedes is still in front, maybe Ferrari. Then there are some teams fighting for a small gap but I would put us in this fight, and I think maybe we can be competitive and fight for the top three but we will see in Australia.”
