Williams rookie Logan Sargeant has reflected on his first three races in F1 and says he's enjoyed the opportunity to go up against the best drivers in the world but admits he still has "a lot to learn".
Taking stock of his early experience of racing at the pinnacle of motorsport, the 22-year-old American said in Melbourne that he enjoyed every aspect of belonging to Grand Prix racing's elite.
"What haven’t I [enjoyed]? It’s hard to pick one," he said when asked about his first impressions as an F1 rookie. "I’ve loved everything!"
"I think, honestly, just having the element of going against 19 of the best drivers in the world and really challenging myself to step up and make something happen."
Sargeant achieved his best race result in Bahrain, his first event, where he finished P12.
But the Williams charger was particularly pleased with his qualifying pace overall which should have earned him a spot in Q2 had it not been for a few mistakes and deleted lap times due to track violations.
Looking forward, Sargeant's aim, among other things, is to bring his race runs in line with his single-lap pace.
"I think Saudi was a really good step forward in terms of qualifying pace from Bahrain, even though nothing came of it, but I think that was super positive," he said.
"I feel, honestly, super comfortable in the car. I feel like I’ve got my feet under the table, but there’s still a lot to learn in the races.
"I’ve always been very comfortable with my qualifying pace coming from the previous series, so [I’m] just trying to get on top of the race runs."
