Formula E kicks off this weekend its tenth electrifying campaign with the opening round taking place in Mexico City on Saturday. But aside from a few teams swapping one or both of their drivers, little has changed since last year.
The all-electric series is relying for the second season running on its GEN3 machine – the fastest, lightest and most energy efficient FE car yet.
The championship’s 16-race calendar has opened up to a second road circuit, with Misano joining Portland on the sport’s agenda, China back on the docket and Tokyo hosting its maiden round of FE racing.
Despite Formula E’s decade of existence and its typically fraught on-track battles, electric racing remains relatively niche, with several manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, opting out of the series.
Although FE continues to resonate locally with promoters, the series is still struggling to raise its profile with the mainstream media. Hopefully, a new broadcasting and media package catering to the US market will help boost exposure.
Last year, both the Teams’ and Drivers’ World Championships went down to the wire, with Envision Racing and Andretti’s Jake Dennis emerging as the overall victors in London at the end of July.
So, ahead of today’s first charged-up event, here’s a team-by-team run down of the line-ups and changes:

Envision Racing
Envision Racing, the defending team champions, have retained the services of former Formula E world champion Sébastien Buemi, who will once again spearhead their charge in 2024. But the team has made a change in the second seat, bringing in two-time race winner Robin Frijns from ABT Cupra.
Jaguar
Jaguar will field an all-New Zealand line-up in 2024, with 10-time race winner and 2024 title favourite - according to most pundits - Mitch Evans continuing to lead the team. He will be joined by Nick Cassidy, who finished as the runner-up in Season 9.
Avalanche Andretti
After winning the Drivers' Championship last season with Andretti, Jake Dennis will be hoping to replicate his success with the American outfit. The team has parted ways with Andre Lotterer and replaced him with Norman Nato.
TAG Heuer Porsche
TAG Heuer Porsche has retained both of its drivers from last season, Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix Da Costa. The team will be hoping for another strong season in 2024.
DS Penske
DS Penske has also gone with an unchanged line-up, with former world champion Stoffel Vandoorne and two-time world champion Jean-Éric Vergne continuing to race for the team.
Maserati MSG
Maserati has brought in a new face to the Formula E paddock this season, with Jehan Daruvala joining the team from Formula 2. He will be partnered by four-time race winner Maximilian Günther.
Nissan FE
Nissan has retained Sacha Fenestraz for Season 10 while it’s a homecoming of sorts for Oliver Rowland who returns to the Japanese outfit with which he enjoyed his first FE success in Season 6.
NEOM McLaren
Following René Rast's departure from the team, McLaren has signed Sam Bird to replace him while Jake Hughes has extended his allegiance to team papaya.
ERT
ERT – the rebranded NIO 333 outfit – has retained both Dan Ticktum and Sérgio Sette Câmara for the 2024 season.
Mahindra
Mahindra has signed a brand-new line-up for the 2024 season. Edoardo Mortara has joined the team from Maserati, while former Formula E world champion Nyck de Vries returns to the sport after an unsuccessful short stint in Formula 1.
ABT Cupra
ABT Cupra is hoping to bounce back from a dismal season in 2023 and is hoping that its old flame Lucas di Grassi, who returns to the team, will help it achieve that objective. Nico Muller will partner di Grassi.
