Lewis Hamilton starts from pole position for the second time this season after pipping team-mate Nico Rosberg by just 0.077s in qualifying on Saturday. Mercedes will be wary of the threat posed by Ferrari, with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen lining up directly behind them.

Ferrari focused on race pace on Friday and will hope to challenge on a circuit Raikkonen came close to victory on last year. The nearest threat to both teams comes from Red Bull with Daniel Ricciardo fifth on the grid.

Romain Grosjean starts from ninth place for Haas and has a whole host of strategies available to him as the first driver who is able to choose the tyre compound he starts on. The top eight all start on used supersofts run in Q2.

Today's race sees the grand prix debut of Stoffel Vandoorne, with the Belgian starting for McLaren in place of the injured Fernando Alonso. Vandoorne impressed during qualifying and will start from 12th place, two positions ahead of team-mate Jenson Button.
