Aston Martin F1 hopeful Jak Crawford will experience F1 machinery for the first time when he drives the team’s AMR22 at the Red Bull Ring in Austria next week.

This test marks a significant milestone in the 19-year-old's motorsport journey.

Crawford currently competes in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Dams but in parallel, the young American is participating in Aston’s Young Driver Development Programme which is designed to prepare emerging talents for competing at the highest levels of motorsport.

As part of the programme, Crawford has been engaged in a variety of activities to hone his skills.

These include rigorous fitness work, media training, and frequent driver-in-the-loop simulator sessions at the AMR Technology Campus.

Additionally, he has gained invaluable experience by embedding with F1 the team on Grands Prix weekends, an experience that provides him with an insider's view of how an F1 outfit operates.

Crawford's Formula E test in Berlin earlier this month also served as a valuable learning experience. But the upcoming F1 test in Austria represents the next crucial step in his development.

"Testing with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team is more than just a dream come true; it's an important and exciting step on my motorsport journey," commented Jak ahead of his F1 on-track debut.

"I'm incredibly grateful for this chance to drive an F1 car, learn more from the team and push myself even further. I want to say a massive thank you to Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team for believing in me and providing this opportunity.

"I can't wait to hit the track in Austria on 5 June."

Aston Martin's commitment to nurturing Crawford’s talent highlights the F1 team’s long-term vision for the future of the team.

By providing him with comprehensive training and opportunities like this test, they are actively grooming a potential future star for the sport.
