Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves is shifting gears – temporarily – from action hero to motorsport storyteller, taking audiences behind the wheel of the Cadillac F1 Team in a new documentary chronicling the American squad’s ambitious entry into Formula 1.

With pre-season testing underway in Bahrain, Reeves spoke with F1 TV about the project, revealing a mix of fascination, respect, and sheer excitement for the intricate world of top-level motorsport.

Reeves, a lifelong racing enthusiast, has already proven his knack for translating F1 drama to the screen with the 2023 Disney+/BBC docuseries Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story. Now, he’s turning his focus toward Cadillac’s newest venture.

“I’m part of a documentary about Cadillac Formula 1. Kind of the creation, working on the bid and their journey to the first race in March,” Reeves explained.

The 61-year-old actor has been closely involved with the team, capturing the delicate choreography of assembling personnel, engineering a competitive car, and navigating regulatory hurdles.

Asked about what he has learned while working on both F1 documentaries, Reeves didn’t hold back:

“How amazing and profound,” he said. “It's very intense from the outside. I mean if we look at the race car, looking down the track, just the technical side of it, putting a team together, what it takes to have the car, all of the elements, being a rules regulation change.

“Because we were telling the early story of the team before they even got into Formula 1, some of the background of the FIA, FOM and just kind of that world.”

Reeves’ words convey more than just admiration – they hint at the layers of complexity behind what fans usually see as a few dozen cars racing on Sunday afternoons.

Cadillac’s Vision Meets Hollywood Flair

For Cadillac and its parent company GM, Reeves’ involvement is a badge of prestige. Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsports and the Cadillac F1 team, praised the actor’s contribution at the documentary’s July 2025 announcement.

“This is a story of bold ambition and relentless drive,” Towriss said at the time. “We’re honored to work with Keanu, whose passion and knowledge of racing runs deep, and proud to partner with GM on this incredible story.

“We have an opportunity to welcome a new generation of fans to Formula 1 and Keanu’s creativity is the perfect spark to ignite that journey.”

With Reeves’ charisma and cinematic touch and Cadillac’s determination to make a mark on the F1 grid, the documentary promises more than technical insights – it’s set to capture the drama, tension, and sheer thrill of building a Formula 1 team from scratch.
