The prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed is about to get a massive dose of championship energy, with McLaren announcing that reigning F1 world champion Lando Norris will headline next month’s event.
The fast-paced weekend will run from July –12, serving as the ultimate victory lap for the young Briton as he publicly celebrates his sensational 2025 F1 drivers' title right in front of his home crowd.
Norris is set to tackle the legendary hillclimb behind the wheel of his 2023 MCL60, sending a roar through West Sussex on Saturday as he blasts his way up the hill.
A papaya party of historic proportions
Norris’ title party is just one piece of a massive weekend for the Woking-based squad, which is bringing four iconic F1 cars to Goodwood.
Joining the MCL60 will be the legendary 1976 M23, a 1993 MP4/8 – to be steered by Leonardo Fornaroli, Bruno Senna, and Rob Garofall – and the final car driven by Ayrton Senna, an MP4/8B, a machine that hasn’t stretched its legs since 1993.
McLaren Chief Marketing Officer Louise McEwen couldn’t hide her immense excitement for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of high-octane celebration.
"Goodwood Festival of Speed offers motorsport fans the opportunity to get up close to incredible cars and on-track action, and we’re excited to be part of it again," McEwen stated.
"It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our rich heritage by bringing some of Formula 1’s most iconic cars as well as celebrating current achievements.
“This year we’re celebrating 50 years since James Hunt won the World Championship, so we had to bring the winning chassis, M23.
“The MP4/8 race-winning car will also drive up the hill. This is the same car Ayrton Senna drove when he won the 1993 Australian Grand Prix. I’m particularly excited to bring the MP4/8B for public viewing for the first time since Ayrton and Mika Häkkinen drove it at a test in Estoril in 1993, a real treat for all motorsport fans.
“We’ll also be celebrating last year’s double Championship win on Saturday, when Lando drives the MCL60 to Goodwood House, a fantastic opportunity to look back at this very special moment for the team.
