Amid Formula 1’s silly season rumors: Oscar Piastri has made one thing crystal clear: he has no intention of being swept away by the latest wave of speculation.
As whispers continue to grow over Max Verstappen's future – and the (unlikely) possibility of the reigning champion landing at McLaren – Piastri has found himself dragged into the center of the paddock's hottest transfer saga.
One theory suggests Verstappen's arrival would trigger Piastri’s direct switch to Red Bull. Other reports have even linked him with Audi.
Piastri, however, isn't buying into the gossip.
When asked ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix whether he would still be driving for McLaren next season, the Australian delivered an immediate and emphatic response: "Yes!"
Unfazed by Verstappen speculation
The timing of the rumors is hardly surprising. Verstappen's future has become one of Formula 1's biggest talking points, and every potential destination inevitably sparks questions about the drivers already occupying those seats.
Piastri's reputation has only strengthened over the past year. After spending much of last season leading the championship before ultimately falling behind Verstappen and teammate Lando Norris – who went on to secure the title – the Australian has remained one of the grid's most highly rated talents.

Despite neither McLaren driver managing to convert their speed into consistent race victories this season, Piastri insists he has felt nothing but confidence from those leading the team.
"Zak and Andrea and the whole team have been great through all that, very assuring and I’ve been the same today," he said.
Piastri also suggested that the latest stories may have more to do with Verstappen's own situation than anything happening inside McLaren.
"Clearly Max is feeling, I don’t know, maybe he’s not in a great position at the moment or exploring options,” he added.
"It was the same thing last year with him and Mercedes, so it’s nothing new. But I’m very happy with where I’m at, where things are at and how things are going."
Trust in McLaren remains unwavering
While the sport’s rumor mill continues to spin, Piastri has made it clear he has little interest in chasing every headline or demanding answers about behind-the-scenes negotiations.
Asked whether he felt the need to seek clarification from McLaren over any discussions involving Verstappen, Piastri dismissed the idea altogether.
"I don’t know, I’m not really that bothered," he said.

Instead, the 24-year-old explained that his confidence comes from the trust he has built with the McLaren leadership and the reassurance he has received internally.
"I think it’s important for people to know where things sit, where the market sits, and the information you can get is good,” he concluyded.
"So I trust the team here, and the things they’ve been told, and the belief in me, so that’s all I really care about."
With Formula 1 edging closer to the summer break – a period traditionally packed with contract announcements and driver-market twists – the speculation is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
But if Piastri's comments are any indication, he's content to let others fuel the gossip while he keeps his focus firmly on racing and on his future with McLaren.
