Haas has confirmed that Ferrari junior Rafael Camara will make his Formula 1 debut at this weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix, while Esteban Ocon has been officially ruled out of the team's remaining races this season.
The announcement brings an abrupt end to Ocon's involvement with the American outfit, despite the Frenchman having originally been expected to remain in the cockpit until the conclusion of the campaign.
It also hands Camara an extraordinary opportunity to step into the spotlight at his home race, accelerating his planned transition into Formula 1.
The Brazilian will partner Oliver Bearman at Interlagos, having impressed Haas during a previous test in its 2025 car. The appointment also represents an early taste of life with the team for a driver already signed to Haas for 2027.
Ocon's Haas chapter ends earlier than expected
Ocon's latest setback follows a turbulent couple of weeks for Haas. The Frenchman was already facing an uncertain future after announcing his departure at the end of the season, but his absence in Mexico City, where reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa took his place after Friday’s running and scored a point on his race debut, raised further questions.
Hirakawa's commitments in the World Endurance Championship prevent him from repeating the assignment in Brazil, opening the door for Camara.

Team principal Ayao Komatsu confirmed the decision, acknowledging that the conversations surrounding Ocon’s departure had been difficult but insisting the team had acted in its best interests.
"We have now notified Esteban Ocon that he will not return to a race seat with TGR Haas F1 Team this season,” the Haas chief said.
"Such decisions are never made lightly, as was the case in Mexico City – but then, as now, we feel this is firmly in the best interests of the team moving forward.
"The conversations that ultimately unfolded between the team and Esteban remain an internal matter, and we will continue to respect the private nature of closed-door situations."
Camara gets his home-race opportunity
Camara arrives with an impressive junior-category pedigree, having claimed titles in both the Formula Regional European Championship and Formula 3. He currently leads the Formula 2 standings and has already established a positive relationship with Haas through his August TPC outing.
Komatsu is clearly encouraged by what he has seen and believes the youngster is ready to take the next step.

"Looking ahead, we’ve chosen Rafael Camara to drive alongside Ollie Bearman at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix,” he said.
“Having excelled in his TPC outing in August, we know Rafa’s capabilities and we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the team this weekend and working with him through his Formula 1 debut driving the VF-26 in Brazil."
For Camara, making his first F1 appearance in front of his home crowd will be an occasion to savour. For Haas, meanwhile, the weekend offers an opportunity to assess a driver already earmarked for its future.
The team's latest reshuffle leaves Ocon on the sidelines and adds another intriguing chapter to an increasingly eventful end to its season.
