Daniel Ricciardo expects Monza, which plays host to this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, to be “a challenging circuit” for Red Bull, despite the Australian coming off yet another top-three finish in Spa-Francorchamps.
“Another podium certainly was a high, that’s three in a row now,” Ricciardo said in his latest video blog. “That was the target to start the second half of the season back up there so I’m very very happy with that.
“I wanted to do better than fifth in qualifying but I actually was not that down about it to be honest because I was confident we’d had a good race car on Sunday.”
Red Bull has shown impressive pace this summer to overhaul Ferrari for second place in the Constructors’ championship. Ricciardo thinks the ultra-fast Italian GP venue won’t suit his Renault-powered RB 12, but that does not mean the 27-year-old is not looking to add more silverware to his trophy cabinet.
“Now, we’re off to Monza,” Ricciardo added. “It’s going to be a challenging circuit for us but it’s one I have always enjoyed so I’m looking forward to that.
“The team has been killing it, a big thank to the guys. Let’s do it all this Sunday.”
