Mercedes has secured its third consecutive Formula One world Constructors’ title at Suzuka, as Nico Rosberg wins the Japanese Grand Prix and team-mate Lewis Hamilton comes home in third.
With 593 points, the German manufacturer can no longer be caught across the remaining four races. Red Bull needed to outscore Mercedes by 23 points to delay the expected coronation.
Rosberg’s latest victory means Mercedes has won 15 of 17 races held so far this year, with only Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo denying it a perfect record with successes in Spain and Malaysia.
With either Rosberg or Hamilton poised to seal the Drivers’ crown, Mercedes is well-placed to make it a third double championship-winning season in a row.
