Nico Hulkenberg is now the sole owner of one of Formula 1's least enviable records: the German has started 129 races without achieving a podium finish!
Hulkenberg welcomed the milestone which he previously shared with countryman Adrian Sutil.
"The Sutil era has finished and the Hulkenberg era begins," joked the Renault driver.
"I’ve had to wait a long time and work really hard to get to this point to finally get this title off of Adrian and be the recorder holder."
As a reminder, Hulkenberg started his F1 career in 2010 with Williams, and even achieved a pole position that year for the Grove-based outfit, in Brazil.
His closest encounter with a podium finish, or indeed an outright win, also came in Brazil in 2012 when the German, driving for Force India, led for almost 30 laps before a mistake enabled Lewis Hamilton to take command.
