Just a few days after the Monaco Grand Prix, Force India driver Sergio Perez was busy undergoing an even more nerve-wracking event on Friday.
The 28-year-old Mexican married his girlfriend Carola Martínez in an exclusive ceremony held in the city of Guadalajara in his native Jalisco.
The pair have officially been a couple since March 2017, and became engaged last August. They welcomed their first child in December, a boy who has been named after his father.
The ceremony was attended by family, friends and celebrities. However, unfortunately few of his work colleagues could attend the wedding.
That's because the team is busy getting its cars across the Atlantic in time for next weekend's Canadian Grand Prix. It meant that there was no way for them to divert to Mexico to support their driver in his hour of celebration.
"Congratulations to our beloved [Checo] and Carola," the team said via its official Twitter page. "Getting married today! We cannot all be there in person, but we’re there with our wishes and thoughts on your special day."
The team also posted this photo of the beautiful couple. It's from a social event a few months ago in February and not from the wedding itself - just in case you were wondering why the bride was wearing deep green!
It's still a gorgeous picture of Checo and Carola, and means that F1i gets to send its very best wishes and congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Perez on this most special of days.
Now there's just time for a glass of champagne - and a can full of Hype energy - before Sergio has to ditch the morning suit and switch to the firesuit for his day job in Montreal...
