Just a few days before the US Grand Prix gets underway in Austin, Haas' Kevin Magnussen traveled to Road Atlanta to support his father Jan at the Petit Le Mans event.
Racing in the GT Le Mans class of the IMSA WeatherTech sports cars championship with the factory Corvette Racing squad, the former F1 driver's car looked set to win its class in Sunday's final event of the season, until team mate Antonio Garcia spun exiting the pit lane and made contact with the wall.
Fortunately, an all-out team effort involving the second car ensured that Corvette defended its title, with Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia clinching the GTLM Driver Championship.
Kevin Magnussen's comment as he witnessed his father's crowing? "The old man still has it!"
