With Lewis Hamilton equalling the title tally of the great Juan Manuel Fangio, let's have a look back at how the Argentinean legend conquered his own fifth crown.
Fittingly, it came after a stunning drive - often labeled as the greatest in F1 history - delivered at the daunting Nurburgring at the 1957 German Grand Prix.
Fangio overcame a poor pitstop by his Maserati crew half-way through the grueling event to make up a one-minute deficit over the Ferrari of race leader Mike Hawthorn.
On the way he slashed his own track record at the circuit by a massive six seconds. He said afterwards: "I'd never driven like that before. And I knew I never would again".
That was F1 title #5 for Fangio done and dusted! And entered into the history books…
