US racing legends Bobby Unser and Mario Andretti made their Formula One debut during the 1968 Italian Grand Prix, though both were excluded for having raced in America… on the very same weekend! Unser would only take one F1 start, retiring this BRM on Lap 18 at Watkins Glen during the USGP. His racing career was much more illustrious Stateside as it includes three Indianapolis 500 wins. Unser’s first triumph at the Brickyard came in that same 1968 year with an Offenhauser-powered Eagle.
