Look back - Mercedes W25

That’s Silver Arrow in German for you. Pictured above is Manfred von Brauchitsch, who became the first driver to power a silver-liveried Mercedes to victory in the 1934 Eifelrennen. The story has it that legendary racing manager Alfred Neubauer had asked for the initial white paint to be removed from the W25’s bodywork in order to enter a lighter car. Having passed scrutineering in its shiny new colours, the machine then roared to victory, allegedly giving birth to the ‘Silver Arrows’ myth.
