Ricardo Rodriguez was born on this date in 1942. The Mexican ace took F1 by storm when he qualified second for the 1961 Grand Prix after Ferrari offered the 19-year-old a guest drive. Rodriguez would tragically perish one year later at the Mexico City circuit that now bears his and his brother Pedro’s name. Despite an all too short life and career, the younger Rodriguez still had time to finish runner-up in the 1960 Le Mans 24 Hours and win the 1962 Targa Florio. A genuine talent lost too soon.
