Lawson puts in the work with Red Bull teams at Monza

Liam Lawson has yet to secure his future in Formula 1 but the Kiwi’s double presence with Red Bull and RB at Pirelli’s tyre test at Monza this week sure looked like a promising sign of a permanent role with either team for 2025.

On Tuesday, Lawson was up and running at the wheel of Red Bull’s RB20, conducting development work on Pirelli’s 2025 compounds, sharing the track with Mercedes’ George Russell during 104 laps.

On Wednesday, the 22-year-old switched to Red Bull’s sister outfit Visa Cash App RB to continue his testing schedule, putting another 76 laps under his belt.

With Sergio Perez's seat at Red Bull still looking uncertain beyond the 2024 F1 season, Lawson is cited as the Mexican’s most likely replacement should the Milton Keynes-based outfit opt to change its driver line-up.

However, a full-time drive with RB next year alongside Yuki Tsunoda is a more plausible prospect if Daniel Ricciardo is not retained.
