Lewis Hamilton took an important win en route to his second world title on this date two years ago, as the Mercedes ace claimed the inaugural 2014 Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.
Lining up on pole position at the Olympic venue, Hamilton saw team-mate and title rival Nico Rosberg attempt to overtake him into the second corner but the German ended up outbraking himself and overcooking his tyres.
Despite pitting only once and at the end of the opening lap, Rosberg would recover to second at the flag, while Hamilton cruised to a comfortable win to extend his title lead.
