McLaren’s strategy meltdown turned the Qatar Grand Prix into a title thriller, gifting Verstappen victory and slashing Norris’s lead to just 12 points with one race to go. Piastri dominated, Sainz stunned, rookies sparkled and veterans stumbled under the Lusail lights – here’s how we rated them all.

Nico Hulkenberg – Sauber (DNF) 7/10

Hulkenberg went in swinging at Turn 1, muscling past Leclerc early — only to see his race end in a collision with Gasly as the pair dueled through Turn 1. Gutsy start, unlucky finish. On pace or not, sometimes F1 is simply unkind.

Oliver Bearman – Haas (DNF) 7/10

Bearman appeared to have a shot at points until an unsafe pit‑stop release triggered a penalty and then a DNF. Not the conclusion he hoped for, but the Brit keeps proving talent with a strong midfield fighting spirit.
