Romain Grosjean has apologised to Will Stevens for the collision between the two in the Canadian Grand Prix.
Attempting to lap Stevens on the run down to the final chicane, Grosjean moved back across and made contact with the front of the Manor, damaging both cars. At the time Grosjean complained he was hit by Stevens, but having seen a replay of the incident after the race admitted he was at fault and went to the Manor driver on Thursday in Austria to apologise.
"Yeah I went to apologise, because I f****d up!" Grosjean said. "It was all OK. Basically I killed a big part of my race but I broke his front wing as well and even though they are fighting at the back they are still trying to do their best so it wasn't very nice of me to turn in to him.
"It was just a failure of concentration. When you lap a car it is very easy to forget it, and that corner as well is a chicane with a wall on the exit and I was just focusing on the exit. I saw the replay and thought 'that was bad'. So it's something you learn and try not to do again."
Stevens himself says he respects Grosjean for taking the time to apologise after the incident.
"It was good of him because it was just a racing incident which should never happen. It's just one of those things which did, he obviously thought I was more out of the way then I was but I was as far over as I could possibly get. There was no intention from anyone at all, it's just one of those things.
"It's good that he came over and apologised. I respect him for that a lot and we can move on and forget about it really."
