Lewis Hamilton will be asked to return to Wimbledon in 2016 after his dress code "misunderstanding" this year.
Hamilton was refused the entry to Wimbledon's Royal Box on Centre Court on Sunday for the Men's final, having turned up without the proper jacket and tie, the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquets Club has said that it will invite the British driver back next year.
"We will definitely be asking him back and hopefully it will fit in with his schedule," said Richard Lewis, Chief Executive of the 147 year British sports institution. "The problem was that we didn't have anything on hand appropriate for him to wear in what is a very high profile place."
Hamilton posted his mishap on Instagram and was the first to regret the misunderstanding which had nothing to do with a rebellious attitude towards Wimbledon's protocol. He even remained within the confines of the club, and watched the Djokovic/Federer final from a hospitality area inside the Centre Court.
"He was apologetic and very polite," concluded Richard Lewis. "We very much hope that he will be able to come again."
