’This is the beginning’ - Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton says his third world championship feels like the beginning of a new chapter for him in Formula One.

Victory in Sunday’s United States Grand Prix secured back-to-back titles for Hamilton and saw him emulate childhood idol Ayrton Senna in becoming a three-time world champion. Having said he will need to think of new targets within F1, Hamilton insists there will be no dip in motivation after reaching a goal he has had since he was a child.

“The motivation part is really easy, I was born with it so it doesn’t go away,” Hamilton said. “I don’t feel any worries about that, winning is winning, it never gets old. Obviously I still have the motivation for the next race, I want to win the next race, it just rolls over. Everything I compete in, I want to win. I don’t feel the need to go search for motivation at all.”

And Hamilton says achieving his ultimate goal has given him the desire to go on and be even more successful than he had hoped for in the sport.

“Niki [Lauda] told me about the day that he didn’t enjoy it anymore, until that happens I guess I will keep going. I don’t feel like this is it. I feel like this is the beginning. I will keep pushing.”
