Mick Schumacher could make his F1 debut at Formula 1's young rookie test scheduled in Bahrain in April.
According to a report from Sky Italia, the 19-year-old Ferrari Driver Academy member is set to run with Alfa Romeo Racing at Sakhir, a predictable choice given the affiliation that exists between the Swiss outfit and the House of Maranello.
In Barcelona, Alfa Romeo Racing team boss Fred Vasseur confirmed to RaceFans.net that discussions were taking place between the team, Ferrari and the reigning European Formula 3 champion, although no decision had yet been reached.
"We don’t know yet but we are discussing," said Vasseur.
"It’s on the table. It’s a bit too early but we will discuss this week with Ferrari and what programme we can do."
As far as Vasseur is concerned, Schumacher is ready to test an F1 car.
“To do a rookie test, for sure," added the Frenchman.
"For the rest we will see after the rookie test, if the rookie test happens. But we have to do it step by step."
