Red Bull Racing designer Adrian Newey will be joining Van Amersfoot Racing to help the Dutch outfit with its European Formula 3 efforts.

According to Autosport, Newey, in addition obviously to his F1 commitments with Red Bull, will be lending a helping hand to VAR's technical staff in order to extract the full potential from its VW-powered Dallara contender.

The fact that Adrian Newey's son, Harrison, is currently being considered for a seat with VAR may well justify the technical wizard's involvement, or indeed it may even be the deciding factor in recruiting the young hopeful.

Harrison Newey was a runner-up in this seasons' BRDC Formula 4 Championship, and also competed in German F4 with Van Amersfoot Racing for whom Newey tested in F3.

VAR has built itself an impressive reputation in the junior formulae, achieving several championship titles in German F3, before moving into European F3 and running Max Verstappen to third place in the series in 2014.

Harrison Newey could find himself at VAR next year paired with Pedro Piquet, the two-time Brazilian F3 champion and son of Nelson Piquet, who has already been confirmed with Frits van Amersfoort's team for 2016.
