Mercedes has opted for a conservative approach to its tyre selection for the Hungarian Grand Prix, choosing fewer sets of soft rubber than its rivals.
Teams will head to the Hungaroring right after this weekend's German Grand Prix, and Pirelli has revealed the tyre selection for the last race before F1's annual summer break.
Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have each stocked up on eight sets of the red-rimmed compound while the Finn will have four sets of the medium tyre at his disposal against three for his Merc teammate.
Each driver at Red Bull and Ferrari will have nine sets of the soft tyres. Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly have identical selections, while Charles Leclerc has chosen three sets of the yellow medium rubber, that's one extra set compared to Sebastian Vettel.
Looking down the grid, no other team has chosen less than nine sets of the soft compound, but Renault, Alfa Romeo Racing and Toro Rosso have all elected to stock up on ten sets of the red tyre.
