Maximillian Gunther strengthened his position as Formula E's virtual leader on Saturday, the BMW Andretti driver conquering his second win in the electric series Race at Home Challenge.
Gunther's triumph at the Electric Docks circuit was helped at the outset by a blunder from from Mercedes' Stoffel Vandoorne who hit the inside wall at the first chicane on the opening lap, a mishap that left the Belgian's car damaged and unable to fight for top honours.
Gunther quickly established a 4-second lead over Mahindra's Pascal Wehrlein. But the German progressively reeled in the leader to put himself in contention for the win.
Alas, on lap 9, Wehrlein hit the wall at the exit of Turn 1 which pitched him into a half-spin, his car significantly damaged.
Gunther thus took the checkered flag by over 7 seconds from an impressive Robin Frijns. The Envision Virgin racer edged third-place man and Dragon Racing's Nico Mueller while Porsche's nell Jani was fourth.
Vandoorne managed to salvage P5 while NIO333's Oliver Turvey rounded off the top six.
