Aston Martin's right to review Sebastian Vettel's disqualification from the Hungarian Grand Prix will take place by video conference next Monday.
The Silverstone-based outfit is exercising its right to review based on "significant new evidence relevant to the sanction which was unavailable to it at the time of the FIA stewards' decision".
Vettel was excluded from the results of the 11th round of the 2021 F1 World Championship following the Hungarian Grand Prix scrutineers' inability to extract a mandatory 1-litre fuel sample from the #5 Aston Martin, with just 0.3 litres pumped out of the car's tank.
Vettel's car was subsequently impounded by the FIA and transported to its technical facility in France.
Monday's hearing, scheduled for 3pm CET, will bring together via video-conference representatives from Aston Martin and the Hungarian Grand Prix stewards who will establish whether the team has indeed brought forward compelling new evidence.
Should that be the case, a review shall be conducted, after which the stewards may uphold their initial decision, and AMR can push on with its appeal, or deem that they were wrong and hand P2 back to Vettel.
If the stewards reject the new evidence, there will be no review and the exclusion decision will stand. However, AMR may still proceed with its appeal, or choose to abandon the proceedings.
After last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, Aston Martin team boss Otmar Szafnauer said that its data indicated that 1.7 litres of fuel remained in its car's tanks.
Szafnauer speculated that a faulty lift pump on Vettel's AMR21 had prevented the extraction of the remaining fuel. It is believed that the team could request to be allowed to replace the faulty component with an identical one and then attempt to retrieve the required amount of fuel from the tank.
