Red Bull has unveiled the new livery that its 2016 challenger will sport during the upcoming season at a special event in East London.
After Red Bull ended its three-year title sponsorship with Infiniti, the revised design breaks away from the purple colours the energy drinks giant sported these past few years.
In the wake of its falling out with engine partner Renault in the latest turbo era, Red Bull spent most of last year trying to secure another supply but was rebuffed by Mercedes, Ferrari, and Honda.
The four-time world champions will eventually carry on using Renault power units, though these will bear the name of new main sponsor TAG Heuer, which has joined Red Bull following a 30-year association with McLaren.
Technical regulations state that Renault has to provide its customer team with the same engine specification as its returning works outfit. However, Renault Sport Racing managing director Cyril Abiteboul has already warned that there could be stages of the season where Renault and Red Bull are “out of sync” with each other.
Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat form an unchanged line-up at Milton Keynes, while French hopeful Pierre Gasly continues as third and reserve driver after he started filling the position over the final races of the 2015 season.
A three-time grand prix winner, Ricciardo remains a highly rated prospect in the paddock despite being outscored by his Russian team-mate last year. The Australian is entering a contract year but in no hurry to address his 2017 plans until later on.
