F1 teams poke fun at rivals' team boss whirlwind changes

It's been a whirlwind twenty-four hours for Formula 1, with none less than four teams affecting or confirming changes to their team management structures.

The game of musical chairs started with Williams announcing out of the blue the departure of CEO and team principal Jost Capito.

But things went into overdrive on Tuesday morning with Alfa Romeo F1/Sauber announcing Fred Vasseur's exit from Hinwil, a piece of news followed by the confirmation by Ferrari of the Frenchman's transfer to Maranello.

Then, not to be outdone by its rivals, McLaren pulled a shocker by announcing Andreas Seidl's replacement at the helm of team papaya by the team's executive director Andrea Stella.

Finally, the last domino to drop was the by then expected announcement of Seidl's passage to Sauber where the highly competent German will take over the role of CEO ahead of the Swiss outfit's partnership with Audi for 2026.

By the time the dust had settled, several F1 teams' social media admins, watching events unfold from the sidelines, had sprung into action to deliver their two cents on one of the most incredible news days ever in F1.

Mercedes hit the wires on Twitter with a piece of 'Breaking News', only to confirm that it had "nothing to announce".

Over at Alpine, the French outfit posted a picture of team boss Otmar Szafnauer with the caption, "Checking your phone and realising you are the fifth longest tenured Team Principal in F1 after only 9 months in charge."

Shortly after, Haas' admin, seeing "lots of team principals on the timeline", responded with a picture of a smiling Guenther Steiner.

A few drivers also paid tribute to their team chiefs, although with deference rather than sarcasm.

"Farewell Andreas!" wrote a grateful Lando Norris on Instagram. "It's been mega working with you these last few years.

"I've never seen our team looking as strong as it is now and some of that is credit to the work you've done. Best of luck in the new job mate, I’m sure I’ll see you around."
