Ferrari has confirmed the name of its 2024 contender that will take on Red Bull and its rivals this season, the Scuderia opting unsurprisingly for the moniker ‘SF-24’.
Red Bull’s banner year in 2023 saw the Milton Keynes-based outfit crush its opponents with a record 21 wins out of 22 races, with the team and Max Verstappen claiming their respective Constructors’ and Drivers’ championships.
However, Ferrari was the only team to inflict defeat on the bulls, a feat chieved in Singapore thanks to a flawless performance from the Scuderia and Carlos Sainz.
The Italian outfit’s SF-24 war horse will be unveiled on February 13, giving fans their first glimpse of the car before pre-season testing begins in Bahrain on February 21.
The machine’s ‘SF’ designation – for Scuderia Ferrari - has been a constant feature since 2015, although there was a brief deviation in 2022 when the F1-75 nomenclature was introduced to celebrate the company's 75th anniversary.
The SF-24 carries the weight of Ferrari's racing heritage, and the team is hoping that it will be the car that propels them back to the top of Formula 1.

Ferrari is entering the new season with an unchanged driver lineup. Charles Leclerc recently signed a multi-year contract extension with the team while Sainz, whose current deal expires at the end of 2024, remains in talks with his employer.
With 243 wins, Ferrari remains the most successful team in F1, but its last Constructors’ Championship dates all the way back to 2008, while Kimi Raikkonen delivered a Drivers’ title to the House of Maranello in 2007.
