Pirelli has revealed the tyre choices for each driver at the forthcoming Canadian Grand Prix, with Haas and Renault electing to pick from only two different tyre compounds.
As part of new regulations, teams can now choose from three different types of tyre, with an allocation of 13 sets per driver.
Of those 13 sets, Pirelli will select two sets that have to be allocated for the race (of which a driver must use one set), while a set of the softest available compound may only be used in Q3. Teams are then free to choose the remaining ten sets.
For Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Pirelli has selected the soft, supersoft, and ultrasoft, i.e. the same nomination as in last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
Returning F1 constructor Renault and US newcomers Haas have gone for radical allocations, only picking soft and ultrasoft tyres for their drivers.
The American team has loaded up on the purple-marked compound with 10 sets available to Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutierrez, by far the most across the field. Renault pilots, on the other hand, will receive the biggest amount of soft tyres with five yellow-walled sets for both Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer.
With eight sets of ultrasofts for Mercedes team-mates Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, the pair will have one more than their Ferrari and Red Bull rivals.
Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa are the only driver pairing to go for different tyre choices within a team, as they differ between their soft and supersoft allocation.
