Raffaele Marciello has announced he will make his debut for Sauber in FP1 for the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Ferrari young driver has been named as Sauber’s reserve driver for 2015 alongside race drivers Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr. Marciello drove for Ferrari during the final in-season testing following last year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix but has yet to make his Sauber debut as the team’s race drivers completed the full pre-season schedule.

Marciello has now confirmed via Twitter that his first run in the C34 will come at Sepang during first practice for this year’s Malaysian Grand Prix.

Sauber - which uses Ferrari power units - enjoyed a strong pre-season, completing the most mileage at the final test at the Circuit de Catalunya, with both drivers setting times within the top ten of the fastest of the week.

Italian youngster Marciello will also race for Trident in the GP2 Series this season alongside his Sauber commitments.
