Nico Rosberg is slight favourite for pole position after topping all three free practice sessions, but the German saw his advantage cut from 0.4s after FP2 to just 0.057s in the final practice session this morning. Team-mate Lewis Hamilton was second quickest, with Daniel Ricciardo also a threat in third place as he was only 0.099s slower than Rosberg.

Hamilton was in danger of receiving a penalty after FP3, but escaped punishment after a stewards' investigation into an unsafe release. Mercedes was fined €10,000 for the incident, when a reprimand would have led to an automatic 10-place grid penalty for Hamilton.

Ferrari also looked quick in final practice as Kimi Raikkonen was fourth quickest, 0.164s adrift of Rosberg's time. However, Raikkonen and Ricciardo both ran later than the Mercedes pair on track, while Rosberg's FP3 time was also 0.2s slower than the lap he managed in FP1.

Williams looks set to be the best of the rest after an improvement this morning, leaving Force India and McLaren as the main two teams also fighting for a spot in Q3. Jenson Button will have to make up for lost time after his running was curtailed by a tiny piece of carbon in his eye during FP2 and then managed just six laps in this morning's session.

Romain Grosjean will take a five-place grid penalty after requiring a new gearbox following a problem in FP3.

F1i will bring you all the action as it happens from qualifying on Saturday afternoon, which starts at 14:00 local time. You can also get involved with any questions or comments for the team at Hockenheim.
