Nico 'had nothing on me' - Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton says team-mate Nico Rosberg "had nothing on me" in the Brazilian Grand Prix as the defending champion kept the title race alive.

Rosberg would have won his first drivers' championship with victory in the Brazilian Grand Prix, but the German had to settle for second place in a delayed race suspended by two red flag periods at Interlagos. Hamilton took his third consecutive victory - by over 11 seconds - to take the title battle to the final race of the season and the triple world champion says he is

"I am happy that I beat everyone," Hamilton said. "I am happy with the same car I beat Nico, and Nico is driving at his best right and he had nothing on me. I am happy that we as a team have continued to make history and feel how my mechanics given to me at the beginning of the year have gelled so well and doing a fantastic job.

"[I am] super happy with my engineers, who are the best. Nico is doing all he has to do, finish every race and not have any problems. I am in an awkward position going into the last race, it doesn’t make a big difference if I drive like I do now because I have already lost so much in the year. But I won’t give up because you never know what could happen."

And Hamilton reiterated he was largely untroubled while a number of drivers - including Rosberg and Max Verstappen behind him - had big moments in the difficult conditions.

"This is a very, very tough grand prix in general with these conditions here at this track. They have done a lot of work to improve the track but there is still standing water, I think it is the surface.

"Just on that main straight was opportunities for aquaplaning and out of Turn 5, but otherwise generally I didn't have any of those [problems]. I may have had one small oversteer moment once where the others were spinning but it wasn't anything that serious."
