It's cheers to Danny Sullivan on this day as the former F1 driver and 1985 Indy 500 winner turns 74-years-young.
This Kentucky kid's effort in Formula 1 was not without merit. The American showed good potential in his single year in Grand Prix racing with Ken Tyrrell in 1983.
His best result came at Monaco where Sullivan hustled his nimble Cosworth-powered Tyrrell 011 to fifth place.
In the end though, Danny Boy would find his calling in IndyCar, achieving his moment of glory at Indianapolis in 1985 with Team Penske thanks to a triumph famously known as a "Spin and Win", a reference to Sullivan's massive damage-free 360-degree gyration on lap 120 while battling Mario Andretti.
Sullivan is still a frequent visitor to the F1 paddock, often officiating as an FIA Drivers' Steward.
