From kitchen porter to F1's first eSports champion!

Brendon Leigh conquered Formula 1's first eSports title yesterday in Abu Dhabi, the 18-year-old kitchen porter from Reading, UK, beating his 19 rivals in a thrilling finale.

The final consisted of three virtual races taking place at Montreal, Spa and Yas Marina.

Leigh won the first race and entered the final round a point behind Fabrizio Denoso Delgado and Sven Zurner.

The British gamer, virtually driving a Toro Rosso, prevailed after a gripping last lap move on rival Delgado.

"Winning here means a huge amount to me. I am the first one to do it," said Leigh who had never traveled outside of the UK or even boarded a plane before this weekend's event in Abu Dhai.

"That is special. I am not sure how to celebrate. I don’t drink or anything: I think I might just go to bed."
