Lundgaard fastest of them all in Bahrain F2 test

Alpine junior Christian Lundgaard enjoyed a strong start to his 2021 campaign in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, the ART Grand Prix driver topping the series' three-day test in Bahrain.

Although DAMS' Marcus Armstrong led the field on the third and final day of testing, Lundgaard was very much the standout performer at Sakhir, running second and first on Days 1 and 2 and setting the best overall lap.

The 19-year-old Dane heads into his second season in F2 looking to build on a promising maiden campaign in the feeder series in 2020 during which he scored two wins and six podiums.

Lundgaard has opted for continuity by sticking with ART for 2021, a choice he reckons will only boost his chances of securing the title.

"I know everyone in the team. I know how they work, and we know where we need to improve - that will be the biggest benefit," said Lundgaard.

"We know each other’s weaknesses and each other’s strengths, and we are ready to work on these together.

"I have got the same engineers, the same mechanics, so it is basically the same team and I think that is something we can turn into a positive."
