Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton's respective Extreme E teams duked it out for the series inaugural title last weekend in Dorset, with the former F1 driver's outfit coming out on top.
Hamilton's X44 team won the final Jurassic X Prix round held along the Southern coast of England thanks to Sebastien Loeb and Christina Gutierrez, which put the outfit level on points in the championship with Rosberg's RXR, whose drivers Molly Taylor and Johan Kristofferson finished Sunday's event in fourth place.
But on a countback basis, RXR snatched the title thanks to its superior number of overall wins relative to X44.
"We came into Extreme E to raise awareness of climate change, and promote sustainability, but also as a racing team we want to win and so we will remember this feeling forever," said an ecstatic Rosberg, who celebrated his drivers' win with ablend of mud and champagne.
"It has not been easy in the middle of a pandemic but we have delivered five X Prix events and the final in Dorset produced some spectacular racing," added Extreme E founder Alejandro Agag.
