Lando Norris was the recipient last Sunday in Italy of the prestigious Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini, a reward bestowed upon the McLaren charger for his outstanding achievements during the 2023 F1 season.
The award, which takes its name from the charismatic Ferrari driver who succumbed in 1967 to injuries sustained in the Monaco GP, was established in 1992 by Francesco Asirelli and Tiziano Samorè from the municipality of Brisighella, located in the Emilia-Romagna region.
The trophy is granted to those who have shown a “commendable performance during the season.”
Norris secured a strong sixth-place finish in the F1 Drivers' Championship, achieving a career-best seven podiums, including six runner-up positions, as McLaren's competitive performance enabled the Briton to challenge for top positions in the second part of the year.
Past winners of the Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini include, among others, F1 world champions Jacques Villeneuve, Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raïkkonen, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Max Verstappen.
